Our History

The Hope Plaza

In 2017, following Hurricane Irma's impact on the Florida Keys, Jonathan and Shena Carey—pastors of Glad Tidings Tabernacle in Key West—provided accommodations for teams from the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (RRT) and Samaritan's Purse over twelve weeks. Through their collaboration with these organizations and personal experiences with the Holy Spirit, they were inspired to found The Hope Plaza as a ministry base in their homeland. The facility is located close to Jonathan’s former primary school, where his sixth-grade teacher first introduced him to Jesus.

After Hurricane Dorian struck The Bahamas in 2019, Jonathan participated in relief efforts there. This marked the formal launch of their vision: to help others prepare proactively for times of crisis and for eternity.

Currently, The Hope Plaza operates under the covering of Project Ruth Global. The Hope Plaza serves as the Africa and Caribbean ministry center for Frontline Chaplains International, as well as the Caribbean headquarters for Global United Fellowship.
